Monosyn® Absorbable Monofilament Suture

Monosyn® is a synthetic absorbable monofilament suture with mid-term absorption, developed for surgical procedures requiring precision, tissue stability and controlled healing. Its smooth monofilament structure ensures atraumatic passage through tissues, reducing inflammation and the risk of bacterial colonization.

It is manufactured from a copolymer of glycolic acid, ε-caprolactone and trimethylene carbonate (glyconate), providing high flexibility, excellent handling and a predictable biological response. Absorption occurs by hydrolysis, with approximately 50% tensile strength retention at 14 days, ensuring reliable wound support during the critical healing phase.

Complete absorption of Monosyn® takes place between 60 and 90 days, making it a safe and effective option for oral, periodontal and regenerative surgery, as well as for a wide range of medical and veterinary surgical applications.

Clinical Indications

According to the clinical experience of Dr. Juan Alberto Fernández, Monosyn® is especially indicated for:

• Ultra-fine sinus membrane suturing

• Fixation of connective tissue grafts
